Effi­cient work­wear logis­tics: Coop and the Swiss dis­tri­b­u­tion cen­ter set new stan­dards

A lot has changed for the bet­ter for Coop employ­ees since 2019. Employ­ees can now rely on their work­wear not only fit­ting per­fect­ly, but also being deliv­ered reli­ably and on time. What runs so smooth­ly for employ­ees is the result of a sophis­ti­cat­ed col­lab­o­ra­tion between Coop and the Swiss dis­patch cen­ter.

Coop, one of the largest retail­ers in Switzer­land, offers its employ­ees a wide selec­tion of high-qual­i­ty work­wear. To ensure that this is avail­able at all times, Coop relies on a pro­fes­sion­al logis­tics solu­tion that cov­ers every­thing from receiv­ing and stor­ing the goods to order­ing, order pro­cess­ing and deliv­ery. This com­pre­hen­sive ser­vice con­vinced us.” Automa­tion increas­es effi­cien­cy and min­i­mizes errors, which is a deci­sive fac­tor for Coop.

The work­wear is deliv­ered direct­ly to the Coop dis­tri­b­u­tion cen­ters and then dis­trib­uted to the employ­ees. The high reli­a­bil­i­ty and pre­cise pro­cess­ing of orders are key advan­tages of this part­ner­ship. This allows Coop to ensure that its employ­ees are per­fect­ly equipped — for every work­ing day, in every super­mar­ket, nation­wide. Since July 2023, Coop has expand­ed its range with an inno­v­a­tive sec­ond-hand store, a first in Switzer­land. Worn but still flaw­less work­wear is recon­di­tioned, packed and stored by employ­ees at the Swiss dis­patch cen­ter. The gar­ments can then be ordered from the sec­ond-hand store by Coop stores. In this way, Coop makes an impor­tant con­tri­bu­tion to sus­tain­able man­age­ment and sup­ports the goals of the “Sus­tain­able Tex­tiles Switzer­land” pro­gram.
